Back Yard Wedding in Southern Indiana

Everyone knows that 2020 has been an unusual year! So, when I received a message on a Wednesday from another photographer asking me if I had plans for Saturday (3 days away), I was not surprised. She asked me to take over a wedding for her because of possibly being exposed to COVID-19. Luckily, my work schedule had recently changed giving me that very Saturday off. So I agreed to take over the wedding for her.

I scrambled around the next couple days preparing my gear and sending a questionnaire to the bride so I could get to know her and her fiance. I only had 3 days to figure out what I usually get 6-12 months to do. Of course, it all worked out. Perfectly.

My first time meeting Lacy was the day of her wedding (which if this wasn’t 2020, I would say sounds crazy). She was so calm and easy going. Nothing was going to stress her out on the day she was marrying the love of her life! She was getting ready and had sticky notes all around her mirror. Her fiance, Thomas, had left her a note the night before their wedding. “I love you so much……I cannot wait to marry you tomorrow. I could not imagine myself being any happier than I am with you….” Lacy had probably read that note 100 times while getting ready. As if that wasn’t sweet enough, he sent someone over to deliver another love note to Lacy. “4 hours and 50 minutes til forever…” read the first line of his love note. It was a count down for him. A count down for her. A count down until they would share a last name and spend the rest of forever together. These two were not going to let Corona stop them from their forever.

They had their wedding at their house. Their barn became a custom decorated venue with long sheer white linens draped along the ceiling. There were gorgeous string lights hanging along the drapes and down the wall, all around the venue. At the front of their barn, was a beautiful custom made arch with drapes, lights, and flowers. It was all so beautifully decorated and ready for Lacy and Thomas to say, “I do” and begin their forever together.

I was so happy and thankful to be able to be a part of their day. It was a beautiful back yard wedding in Southern Indiana. We even got to include their goats from their farm in the family portraits!!

Lacy and Thomas,

Thank you for allowing me to step in last minute and be a part of your big day. Lacy you are absolutely gorgeous inside and out and Thomas is so lucky to call you his wife. I could tell the moment I saw the two of you together, that your love for one another was strong and true. Not only is your love for one another strong, but you both have an amazing family who I could tell loves and supports both of you too. Plus- you have all those goats to love on!! You two are truly blessed, even during this unusual year of 2020. May the two of you have a blessed, happy marriage together. Forever.

P.S. The goats have their own section in your gallery! They were loving being in front of the camera!!
